African Basketball: Development, Gender and Migration
Earlier this month, I had the honor to speak on some of the early findings from the recent Basketball Diplomacy Africa project at the Sports Africa Live panel, “African Basketball: Development, Gender and Migration.”
Participants included Mactabene Amachree (Independent Sports Professional); Joe Lopez (SEED Project Academy, Senegal); Anicet Lavodrama (ASSIS Sport, Spain); Hamchetou Maiga-Ba (Hamchetou Maiga-Ba Foundation & Special Olympics, Mali); Boniface Ndong (fmr FC Barcelona & Senegal player; current Senegal coach); Astou Ndiaye (NBA Academy Africa, Senegal); and Isabelle Yacoubou (Tango Bourges-Basket, France). And overall, the panel provided unique and insightful perspectives on the topic, and I learned much.
My deep thanks to Gerard Akindes and the Sports Africa Live team for organizing such an important event.
